How do I get my iphone out of recovery mode?

I just bought an iphone thats stuck in recovery mode. It shows the itunes icon and the wire. When I connect the iphone into my computer (windows xp), itunes does not detect it. No programs detect that it is connected. Any way to fix this?

okay turn of the phone hold the home button and plug into computer while still holding the home button now one back to that screen use independce to get it out of recovery
