Macworld 2007- Part 5 - Internet on the iPhone
nfoo asked:
Steve Jobs demos the Safari internet browser included with the iPhone and shows how excellent their user interface is …

he talks about dinner alot
he says BOOM so much………
If you have wifi at home, it’s free. If you get the 3G iphone you would have to pay for the 3G service to AT&T. If you get the 2G iphone you can get edge speeds by paying for data services on AT&T or T-mobile (if unlocked).
When he’s loading the site it reminds me when i used to have 56k modem lol. He says it has wifi, so if i had wireless internet in my house or if i was in an area I could use the internet? or do i have to pay for it when i get an iphone?
Continuing:
Let me ask you a question:
1.
Don’t you think the path to get developers to do iPhone optimized sites, which work with CSS and Java, which let’s them run MUCH faster and does almost everything, with CSS animation, Flash could do user interface wise, prooced to be right, with the awesome experience you get with those optimized sites - They are FAR from a WAP or a PDA site.
2. Why would you want to download a file? What file do you need to be on such a device? I really don’t get it.
I’d like to answer, but I don’t understand question nr. 1.
The iPhone uses Safari, which uses Webkit, which is basicly the same Safari as on Mac OS and Windows, with a few additons for gesture support and CSS animations, etc.
Could you restate this question, btw. clear u what the question is?
Flash:
The first is no reason for getting flash.
1. Flash (flash lite) runs very, very poorly and mobile devices.
2. 90% of Flash content are ADS and Video
And Video is done much better natively - mp4.
you got a point there…I have however 2 questions: 1.How can Jobs make statements such as:”The worlds 1st mobile internet surfing, in desktop edition, not baby internet”,when it isn’t?All accessible sites are on mobile edition(except facebook). It’s just “wap” browsing with a fiew enhancements in a widescreen display. And 2nd: Why safari doesn’t allow flash content or even download anything if it’s a regular internet experience as on my pc?And I’m not even talking about the known drawbacks here..
Why the hell would you want to do that in the first place?
If you want Android, which I right now can’t recommend that much, get an (the only) Android phone.
iPhone runs on OSX and I’m just starting out to programm for it and I can say: it’s unbelievable how great Touch OS for developing.
And Safari - right now, that can always change - is the fastest and best mobile browser. Period.
The whole user experience on the iPhone is the best on the market - right now.
is there a possibility you can install and operate google android, or mozilla firefox?
wow this was awesome!
chrome took ideas from all different web browsers
Yeah, Chrome … It’s the WebKit engine. Chromes uses it, too.
its was the fastest web browser in the world but now google chrome is along side it
IT has the best rendering engine. And the fastest one.
And on Mac, the interface is really good.
But take what you like best.
It is, btw, the best browser on mobiles …
safari isn’t the best web browser in the world
They took it out because it doesn’t make Mail better, but worse - on the iPhone, at least.
I’d say it doesn’t make much sense.
what happend to the split screen view? hahah
10000000000 =)
exactly
250 million+250 million=500 million
what is 500 million+500 million?
no it said 250MILLION. not 250,000
sorry to correct ya, but it said 250 million, which indeed is 1/4 billion…
