The Submarines - You, Me, and the Bourgeoisie (iPhone 3G ad song)
NettwerkMusic asked:
You, Me and the Bourgeoisie is now featured in all iPhone 3G commercials! Check out http://www.thesubmarines.com for more info.
The duo’s sophomore album “Honeysuckle Weeks” is now available!

If someone doesn’t know who that’s by, then they do suck at life.
Is it just me or is she faking the smile?
Well, if this ii true, Steve Jobs has a very good sense of good music!
Maybe has every song which is on apple istore, so he can listen to so many different kinds of music!
He’s lucky! ;_D
You know they say that Steve Jobs him self picks the music, i have to be honest and say i pretty much believe that.
I love this song, especially in the iphone 3G spot!
*thumbs_up
Apple just has a good taste and feeling for real good music!
Dig the cartoonish Volvo
This video totally reminds me of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” If you don’t know who that’s by then you suck at life and look it up. No you don’t suck at life you should totally look it up.
Totally 60’s!!! I LOVE it!!!
I really got crazy with this song first time I heard it {IPod commercial)
Save save Youtube!!!
How ironic that this was played on the IPOD commercial, one of the strongest examples of first world pleasures.
i heard this song on the iphone commercial and i cant listen to more than 30 seconds of it now this song is so annoying
the apple commercial made me want to hear more, but after watching this, i cant take more than 30 seconds. this song is really irritating
Maybe it’s just because it fits the commercial.
looks like juno
you dont hear positive songs like this that much anymore. songs are usually about violence, sex, and drugs. grat song
Everyday we wake up, we choose love, we choose life, and we try.
Lovely song.
I hear that. I laughed when I heard the lyrics for the first time.
Still think it’s an odd choice of word to describe something you just don’t like… to me, viscera is disgusting, Nazis are disgusting, and what’s in sewage is disgusting. You’re still going to buy the product, and you even mention that the “disgusting” aspect works well with the color, but it’s still “disgusting”. I don’t know what living in Europe has to do with making a synonym out of boring and dislike with disgusting or buying things you find disgusting.
Of course Apple chose the song because it’s catchy, but you’d have to be really oblivious to ignore that Apple likes to market itself as “alternative” corporate culture. It’s arrogant to “hope” people don’t get their ideology from music; music (even pop) is culture. There’s a reason white supremacists use it to disseminate beliefs, communists limit it to control beliefs, religious revivals use it for fervor, and part of why punk exists.
Response to “AwesomeCheeseburger”:
I find the video also boring and I do not like the melody (Well I did not know this band and heard it the first time in this ad, I live in europe [in germany].) -> therefore for me more “disgusting”
generally:
I do not find this video bad, but I also do not find it good.
And I forgot to mention, what you realy should notice in my opinion:
Because of the great and many features, I will have on christmas an Apple iPhone 3G and the Design ist almost great. Well, the chrome border is a bit disgusting (in my opinion), but it works well with the color black.
I have a feeling that Apple chose this song because it’s really good, and if you’re like me, their commercial is the first place you heard it. I don’t think that they are, nor need to be, worried that people, having liked the song enough to go out and find it, will suffer cognitive dissonance upon learning the words. Frankly, I don’t think a lot of people get their ideology from pop music. I hope not anyway.
Because apple wants to project the image that their products are essential and that owning anything else makes you a communist.
i like her voice more than the girl that sings it in the apple commercials. She;s more unique and real ♥
Dude i know what your sayin. But i think this veideo is very creative and interesting. Hey watch it the right way…i mean those butterflies gotta mean something for her(Him..the band..whatever). I love it.
I love this song, but it’s pretty ironic that Apple chose it for their products… I don’t think there could be a more bourgeois line of expensive products… well okay, maybe Porsche. It’s like when Nike used the song Revolution by the Beatles in their commercials.
